SERVICES
I offer individual therapy to Oregon folx and work exclusively with adults age 18 and over.
My main focus is on working with queer folx and women, in particular those who have been in recovery for a while from substance and/or process addictions, and would like support to resolve remaining issues that stand in the way of their well-being, such as:
Putting others’ needs in front of their own
Feeling of unworthiness
Insecure or avoidant attachment style
Difficulty leaving unfulfilling relationships (jobs, personal relationships)
Relationship issues
Over-functioning
Perfectionism
Anxiety
Trading alcohol or other drugs for workaholism or other compulsive behaviors
ADHD/brain executive function challenges
Trauma
Shame
I also help queer folx, women (and others) with issues relating to:
Coming out later in life
Oppression, including based on gender or sexual orientation; sexism
Environmental grief
Making sense of the world we live in
Spirituality
Adjusting to life in the US
Activism fatigue
Modalities
I’ve never been good with either/or questions such as, “would you rather be X, or Y.” In a similar way, i like to rely both on so-called “top-down” and “bottom-up” forms of therapy. As such, my approach is integrative and i rely on combinations of several modalities based on your goals, needs and preferences. Your questions are always welcome and collaboration between client and therapist is a key to trust-building and success.
In a nutshell, my foundational lens is attachment-based psychodynamic therapy. Based on this, i incorporate mindfulness-based, somatic and behavioral approaches to help facilitate deep, lasting changes in your life. Other approaches and modalities i draw from are as follows:
Compassion-Focused Therapy
Internal parts work
Dialectical Behavior Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Narrative therapy through a social justice perspective
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention
Existential therapy
I invite you to take a look at this short section to get a better sense of how this works.
I also love neuroscience and learning about the mind/body connections, and i often consult with naturopathic doctors about ways physiology may impact mood. This may find its way into sessions as appropriate and when it is within my scope of practice.
Lastly, I am a particular good fit for folx wanting to incorporate Buddhist, Pagan or nature-based spiritualities into their healing practices.
